Biography

Decorating is really about creating a quality of life, and beauty in that life that nourishes the soul, that makes life beautiful. That’s what all this is about, not just what’s in and what’s out. - Albert Hadley

Grosse Pointe Interior Decorator, Suzi Brock established Emerson House Designs a little over twenty years ago, although she had actually been helping friends with their homes informally for many years before then.  While her business is based in Michigan, she has decorated homes from Maine to California and specializes in a sophisticated, traditional, but eclectic approach.

Suzi is a graduate of Northwestern University, as well as the Paralegal Institute in Philadelphia.  In addition to Chicago and Philadelphia, she has lived in New York, Washington, D.C. and both Palo Alto and San Diego, California. She and her husband travel frequently and during their regular trips to London, Suzi spends hours at the many museums and at the great houses outside the city, soaking up inspiration for her projects.

smallacornAs a natural outgrowth of her decorating business, Suzi created Emerson House Wallcoverings, a collaboration with artist, Lisa Ficarra. She recognized an opportunity when she had difficulty finding unique papers suited for today’s changing lifestyles and more spacious interiors. Emerson House Wallcoverings was created for discerning individuals looking for beauty, color and elegance… and sometimes with an element of whimsy.

“My work honors classic design themes; beyond that, I try to bring something new and fresh to every project, creating a home that reflects your lifestyle and your taste with exquisite finishing touches. At the end of the day, this is about the place you live in and possibly work in, so the most important thing I do is anticipate your needs and help create the quality of life that is most important to you.” SB – Grosse Pointe Michigan Interior Designer
